A family holiday to remember…

As summer approaches, at Milne Graden, it is the perfect chance to gather the troops and plan a family holiday. Nothing beats a relaxing long weekend or week away with the whole gang, including the dogs, of course!

Some of our most treasured childhood memories are from staycations full of beach trips, picnics by the river and competitive board game evenings.
There are three larger holiday houses on the estate, each sleeping six guests. They are all dog friendly and have a unique character and will certainly be unforgettable holiday locations for every generation of your family.

Join us as we explore our three-bedroom holiday houses…

Garden House
Garden house, with its own footpath down to the river, is set amongst mature woodland, meaning guests are wakened to the soft sound of bird song. It is the perfect starting point for adventures, so grab your hiking boots and explore the magnificent Milne Graden.

The interior of the house is inspired by nature, with the living room featuring Mark Hearld’s ‘Squirrel and Sunflower’ wallpaper in a colourway ‘clay’. Garden House is the ideal destination to visit with the whole family, with rooms to sleep six guests. The downstairs colourway continues through the upstairs bedrooms, which each feature a unique statement headboard design.

The kitchen is the heart of the cottage, where the traditional farmhouse table can host the family feast, followed by a family game night in front of the fire in the cosy living room. On warmer nights, we recommend outdoor al fresco dining overlooking the Tweed, which is perfect.

The large boot room is an ideal place to leave any muddy footprints at the door and acts as a secret sanctuary for your four-legged friends to rest their heads. The Tails of the Tweed dog park is directly to the rear of the house, it’s perfect if you have particularly energetic dogs that love to play fetch!

Hamilton House
With an impressive stance on the banks of the river, Hamilton House has undisturbed, magnificent views overlooking the Tweed. Retreat inside from the large garden; the interior has a wonderful country-chic feel with timeless features and beautiful artwork. The perfect place to come back to after a full day down at the nearby beaches.

The cosy drawing room decorated with ‘Harvest Hare’ wallpaper by Mark Hearld features patio doors which open onto a small terrace to view the breathtaking scenery. Parents can watch children play and inhale the fresh country air, and little paws can bounce on the gorgeous green grass.

The three double bedrooms are all uniquely decorated, featuring designs from St Jude’s, Cabbages & Roses and the Silk Bureau and artwork from Sue Fenlon, Angie Lewin and Mark Hearld. This house has room for everyone and is perfect for those memorable family holidays everyone will remember in years to come.

Newly presented wood-clad cabin-style bathroom with bathroom blinds in fabric ‘Sea Tangle’ by Zoe Glencross.

School House
School House is aptly named as it was previously used as the school for children on the estate. It is tucked away on the east side of the estate as part of the secluded ‘Sunnyside’ hamlet.

Outside, the exterior features French-style wooden shutters that add to the quirkiness of this beautiful country cottage and a large-fenced garden perfect to enjoy a morning coffee in the sun, with your dogs.

The open-plan living-dining room has a beautiful, exposed stone wall, double-height ceilings, and statement lighting from the British company Original BTC. School House perfectly mixes modern luxury, which complements the building’s original details. The holiday cottage has an open-plan living and dining area with an open fireplace perfect for relaxed, cosy summer nights with your closest friends and family.

The large boot room is perfect for storing bikes and fishing gear for an action-packed holiday. There is nothing better than gathering the troops and enjoying the numerous cycling routes, hiking trails and country pursuits on offer in the Scottish Borders.
