Fishing at Milne Graden – 2020 Season

As we welcome the new year, and look forward to the reopening of the River Tweed, we can reflect on a very positive 2019 fishing season at Milne Graden. We have just about achieved our five year average in terms of fish caught and currently sit at 119 for the season.

Our boatmen see more evidence of the summer run with greater number of fish entering the system in July and August. This is a wonderful time to visit the river with the trees in full leaf, the weather more dependable (most of the time!) and plenty of wildlife to spot while on the beat. We still have some availability for fishing in July and August this year, so please do get in touch for details.

CONTINUOUS LOCAL EXPERTISE

Our long-standing ghille, Kevin Wright, has been joined this year by a new and highly experienced second seasonal boatman – Lindsay Purves who brings a great deal of knowledge and passion with him. The provision of an additional boatman ensures our anglers have continuous access to local expertise throughout the duration of their time on the Milne Graden beats.

Lindsay will be working part time on the estate through the off season and we very much hope that he’ll be back to join us on the river again this year from the beginning of July.

RIVER EXCLUSIVITY

Milne Graden sits opposite beat 7 on Tillmouth Beat. This year we are very pleased to report that Milne Graden have come to an arrangement with Tillmouth that will see Milne Graden leasing on a short term basis the lower part of beat 7 from the cauld downstream.  Previously fished on a rotation basis with Tillmouth, this now provides Milne Graden with the opportunity to fish both banks from the cauld downstream at any time.

This double bank fishing provides Milne Graden anglers with exclusivity of a stretch of the Tweed, allowing greater flexibility and the scope to concentrate on the areas where we know fish are likely to be. Not to mention the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge in a beautifully tranquil setting!
